The department collections include over 35000 historical objects (whole forms or their fragments). These are materials from the end of the Palaeolithic period to early modern period, including objects from Neolithic settlements, the period of Roman influence, early medieval settlements, a Renaissance castle in Ząbkowice Śląskie, and from studying medieval towns of Ząbkowice, Ziębice, and Złoty Stok. In museum collections, there are also materials from fortified settlements in Bardo and Niemcza deposited by the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Wrocław, which will be accessible during exhibitions after they have been studied.

Many PhD theses and academic articles have been written based on our collections, and the materials are made accessible for comparative studies.

The department issues statements informing about the readiness of historical objects obtained during archaeological works in Dzierżoniów, Świdnica, Wałbrzych, and Ząbkowice districts.
